River V.C.’s Mini-Docs mid-season episode features the famous Mexican luchador, El Santo, as River takes a look at his impact on wrestling, comics, film, and Mexican pop culture. “I love Lucha Libre, I mean… obviously I'm biased, I was a luchador for a while, and most of my friends are wrestlers. I have what's been called a scaring the hoes level of knowledge of wrestling and most of that focuses on Japan and Mexico. Santo is just… so quintessential to know, and with a new generation of young wrestling fans being born I feel like we see people begin to get forgotten, especially in wrestling… The handful of historians that are taken seriously are a lot of the time withholding of stories for one reason or another, that's just how the business works." When asked about the possibility of a wrestling show under an Esocrypt banner, River said: “there have been talks, I've always seen professional wrestling as a form of performance art, but even for you guys [artist guild members] who know performance art, and the open-minded independent wrestlers I've pitched this to, it's just conceptually too rough. I've had ideas of wrestling movies though, those have been widely loved. ”
Along with that River’s debut piece, Love, will, and Wisdom has reached 1000 likes on YouTube, making it by far the flagship documentary for our early years. “It's really great to see that years after its release people are still watching it, liking it, and sometimes even sharing their experiences in paganism and witchcraft. It's been nice.”
The Esocrypt Observer will no longer be covering events monthly, instead opting for a development and check-in post every six months to detail not just sudden events, but also longer-term progress updates. This is to focus on more opinion pieces and larger literary projects for The ESOCRYPT Observer, as well as spending more time interviewing guild artists.
River V.C.’s Mini-Docs (Episodes 1-6) will be free on the @ESOCRYPT official YouTube Channel. ESOCRYPT Official will announce the schedule and more information closer to the debut.
