A Note from the Director

If you are looking for the cream of the crop for research, Henry T. Sampson's Blacks in Black and White: a Sourcebook on Black Films as well as From Sambo to Superspade was the pinnacle of first-person sources for Noble and the Lincoln Company. Anything that we didn't research ourselves, including most of the blog posts we sifted through, used these as their source. Most of the narrative of this piece is deciphering Noble's legacy from the game of telephone that's been played with it. If you want to cut through that just start there.
